JACO BEACH

We were walking down a street in the touristy town of JACO. As we approached a pay phone booth, we could avoid noticing a lady who was extremely frustrated. We offered our help. She was trying to call home using one of the major US phone companies. The phone card didn't’t work. Then, she took another local phone card out of her purse, and guess what, it was not the right card to place international phone calls from Costa Rica. While she had access to the phone, she was simply not able to make a call using U.S. based calling card products.

DOWNTOWN SAN JOSE

We were in downtown San Jose, I was talking with my husband, a gentleman approached us, and asked if we knew where he could use this particular calling card, again another major US phone company. His hotel had a very high connectivity fee, and he was not able to use his calling card in a pay phone.
